You know what that means? I’m back in Bakersfield!! For those not familiar with Bakersfield we frequently have “bad air days” where we are advised not to spend a lot of time outside because the air is so unhealthy from pollution and the pollution is blocked in because we are surrounded by mountains here in the San Joaquin Valley.
I just got to Bakersfield early Monday morning after the wedding and have mainly been hanging out with the two good looking girls in the picture (my mom and sister) – I’m the blonde one. Wow, i knew i stood out in Swaziland but who knew i still did when I’m home, i guess i should be used to it by now.
Favorite things about home: My family, seeing people I love and miss terribly, hi speed internet, the Today Show, my bed, and Cool Whip.
Definitely haven’t adjust back to the American speed of life. For example, my mom has been kind enough to share her car with me since I’ve been home so I’ve been taking her to work in the morning. Monday morning, my first morning at my house, my mom told me we were leaving around 10. At 10:05, she says “Let’s go” so i got up from the TV and went and started changing out of my pajamas and before i could finish getting dressed I hear her honking from the driveway. So I finished getting dressed and brushed my teeth and walked at a leisurely pace out to the car and as I approach the car I hear my mom say “Hurry up, this ain’t Africa”. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s so true! The saying is “There’s no hurry in Swaziland” and as you can see I’m still in no hurry.
I’ll be leaving “home” to go back “home” in 5 days so enjoying my time here (praying for the minutes to stretch) but longing to be back in Swaziland..
