“so he [Jesus] got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that he poured water into basin and began to wash his disciples feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him…Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you…Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them” John 13:4-17
This was week 2 of meeting with the new group of girls but because of transportation issues I couldn’t be there last week. This was my first time to watch the older girls lead the younger girls and my heart was just overflowing as I saw them. I…I can’t even put it in to words, I felt like a proud mother watching my kids or something. I mean they were just so precious teaching and sharing God’s Word and seeing them loving their group of girls. I was just sitting back with the Lord and thanking Him for letting me be a little part of His redemptive work because I can’t take any credit for it.
When I was preparing to start the Bible study with the original group of girls in March the Lord had prompted me to wash the girls feet as a sign of humility and serving them and of course following Christ’s command. As I’m now training the leaders to lead this Bible Study I had them wash their girls feet. It was just another outward sign of something the Holy Spirit had given me, that I gave the girls, that they are now giving out to their girls: DISCIPLESHIP!!
