“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above not on earthly things”.
  Colossians 3:1-2

Lord, how can I be looking up and thinking about what’s going on in the heavenlies and still live and function down here?

James 5:16 says to confess our sins to one another, so I have a confession, I got a speeding ticket and yesterday was the deadline.
I was meditating on Colossians 3 as I went to the Police Station and said, “Lord, how can I be setting my mind and heart on things above in this?”

When I arrived at the Police Station two officers, one male and one female.
The man asked if I was born again (like him).
I turned to the woman and asked her and she laughed and ran out of the room.

I paid the ticket and got back in the car. In the car:

God:
“Why didn’t you ask her if she wanted to be born again?”

Becca:
“Well, did you see how she ran out of the room…that didn’t exactly scream ‘I want Jesus'”

God:
  “Go ask her”

Becca: “I’m already in the car, I’m gonna be late for Bible Study”

God: “Go ask her”

Becca:
“I really don’t want to get out of the car, go back into the office…”

So as I was driving away of course she walked out of the office toward my car (Becca:
  “Alrite, I get it”).
Two days prior to this the Lord, during my quiet time, told me to write down Scriptures from Romans on note cards and have them in my car.
So, I waved her over and pulled out Scriptures and had her read them out loud.
I told her she can know my Jesus now and she said she wanted to go home and read them.
I called her today and to be honest there was a bit of a communication barrier but she had read the Scriptures and said she had asked Christ to be her Savior!

Thanks for a lesson lived out!
Focusing on your heavenly kingdom and desiring for more to enter that kingdom while going about my daily life.

  1. What a great example of obedience, even after you had disobeyed! Thank God for using us in spite of ourselves! Nancy
