Most of you may remember about a year ago I wrote an excited email that a young, girl named Swazie had accepted Christ as her Savior.
I met Swazie while visiting her high school last year with Beat the Drum.
Swazie comes over to my house every Saturday morning with her sister, Futhie.
We are currently doing a study of Romans and followed by a SiSwati lesson; Swazie is a very patient and encouraging teacher.
We’ve only been doing Bible Study for about 7 weeks but I have seen such growth in their understanding of the gospel.
I mean nothing gets me more excited than hearing people speak the truth of God’s Word and these girls are doing that.
Swazie is finishing her last year of high school this year and has an exit exam coming up in October/November.
Swazie has always struggled in academics but but a few weeks ago her teacher announced in both her English and biology class that Swazie was the top student in her class.
She is always boasting in the Lord about this because she knows she does not excel in school on her own.
Praise the Lord!.
Swazie is an encouragement to me and my relationship with the Lord; I admire her perseverance and don’t know if I could live in her shoes.
She is the oldest of 9 kids at home and her father is currently living with another woman down the road from his family but still married to Swazie’s mother, the provider of the family and employed by the local hospital on their maintenance staff.
Her neighbors scoff at her family if they can’t afford bus fare to go to school or for food that day.
Swazie always has a story for me every week and I’m always thinking, “Lord, what can I say to her?” and I often say “You know God still loves” or “God has not forgotten about you” to which she always replies, “I know, He’s the only one I can count on”.
I would be blaming God for my situation whereas Swazie sees that when she gets to eat that is a gift from God and thanks God makes it through the day.
Keep praying for this precious daughter of the King of Kings.
