“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”. Psalm 43:10
Not just spiritual desires either. I will admit I have a lot more things to distract me from the Lord than I do in Africa but He is still “wowing” me.
Today was a highlight…I woke up in L.A. and had 2 bowls of TOTAL cranberry crunch and stayed in my pajamas until 11:30. I met my friend, Amanda, at 3rd Street Promenade, one of my favorite places in the world!! (It’s 3 blocks of street blocked off with stores lining the streets. There’s also street performers in the middle of the street that you can stop and watch. And it is the best place to “people watch”…i’ve seen the most interesting people, hairdos, and outfits in Santa Monica.
Within 2 steps onto the Promenade I found the sandals i have been wanting and looking for since last year, and they were in my size. Then I had California Rolls (Sushi) for lunch followed by at drink at Starbucks and then…GAP. They have a huge gap and get this…they had a pair of jeans that were my size in the waist AND THEY WERE EXTRA LONG. I don’t think most of you can appreciate this…but for all of those over 5’9…well let’s just say i know you are getting on gap.com as we speak 🙂
My friend, Amanda, who I was with, lived in Swaziland for the last 6 months so we spoke a little of the Swazi language together and talked about people and places in Swaziland…I needed that. Then, one of fitting room attendants was from Africa and so we talked about Africa and we had both seen this same African movie and…it was great…it’s the small things, you know?
On the way back to Bakersfield, there was no traffic on the 405 North…again some of you reading this don’t understand that, but again, another miracle. I stopped on the way home and had In-N-Out for dinner…YUM. Again some of you may not know the In-N-Out experience but you can’t beat it 🙂
I mean i got to do my favorite things, eat my favorite foods, with one of my favorite people, in one of my favorite places…God is constantly filling the desires of my heart!
It’s good to remember how great God is. Thanks for the reminder. You always help me love the Lord just a little more. Have a great Christmas Becca. Love you! Lydia
Yay!!!!
