So I always thought, “little kids are cute but I like the older kids”.  Well last weekend I was invited to an orphan camp.  We had 70+ orphans in our team house.  I loved every minute of it and fell in love with the kids.  I don’t have much time to write but here are a few pictures.  I didn’t do much physical labor and i was kind of feeling guilty for just sitting with the kids but with that same thought, i felt like Jesus was saying “this is exactly where I would be, sitting with these orphans”.

How precious is it to see one of these little ones seeking the Father?

My friend “Air Katy” who helped put the camp together and run it – Way to go Katy.  She also had to show off in front of the kids 🙂

Nkosinphile (n-kos-ing-pee-lay) and Zandile (zan-dee-lay) two of the little girls who won my heart.

This is Doctor.  No that’s not a nickname, that’s the name his parents gave him.  He wasnt sure about me at first and when i would greet him he would look at me like i was weird and would walk away.  Then halfway through the camp he decided to like me and he was attached to my hip.  When i sat down he would sit on my lap and rub my arm to see if the white would come off 🙂  His name reminds me of Sleepless in Seattle when Tom Hanks’ son calls the radio doctor and his son says “talk to her dad, she’s a doctor” and Tom replies “her first name could be doctor”.  One of my favorite memories of Doctor was just after this picture I took of Him whoever was speaking to us said “let’s pray” and my favorite pictures were of the kids praying.  So when we prayed i would close one eye and then take a few pictures of the kids.  After the prayer Doctor says “How come when you pray, you do like this? (proceeding to imitate me with one eye and taking a picture) I could not stop laughing.  So i apologized to him and immediately bowed my head and closed my eyes and folded my hands and said a short prayer.  And in the mean time a few kids had come up to me and were trying to get my attention and Doctor says “Suka, uyatandaza” (Get away, she’s praying).  Then i said “Amen” and he gave me the biggest smile – oh kids are good to keep you on track.

AIM’s Discipleship Team a.k.a. the D-team.  The D-team visits the orphans at care points (community centers that provide foods for kids in need) and those who had perfect attendance at the Discipleship meetings got to come to this camp.

Snack Time.  Thought you would like to see how we fed 70 kids for 3 days.
